Gregor Schmitter started his career as process consultant for Deutsche Telekom’s inhouse consulting department before joining the HR function as HR Business Partner in 2006. Later in his career Gregor focused on HR Development topics, first leading the HR development function of Telekom’s technology area and later – between 2012 and 2015 – the HR development department of T-Systems, Telekom’s business solution unit. In 2016 Gregor joined Deutsche Telekom’s headquarters as product owner for worldwide learning. His mission consisted among other of digitalizing as well as standardizing Telekom’s worldwide learning portfolio. Since 2020 Gregor is responsible for Deutsche Telekom’s worldwide Performance Development approach WeGrow. Since 2023, WeGrow is rolled out to almost 140.000 employees in the group, and for the first time Deutsche Telekom provides a consistent Performance Development approach to all employees across the company.
In my job I am responsible for Deutsche Telekom’s Performance Development approach WeGrow, a clearly distinct and meaningful product. As a company we prioritize learning and people development to keep up with future requirements, and therefore it drives me to every day contribute to Deutsche Telekom’s strategy. I love the international composition of our team as well as of our working scope – WeGrow is now live in more than 20 countries across the Telekom globe and it is fascinating to see how our local HR colleagues bring WeGrow to live with complementary local initiatives.
Moreover I am driven by a close customer orientation. Since everyone across Deutsche Telekom is using WeGrow, we receive customer feedback on a daily basis which we use to continuously improve. Last but not least I am motivated by the independence we benefit from as a WeGrow team. We are working in an agile mode, prioritizing user stories based on customer feedback and constantly developing new ideas. This led us for example to realizing an attention-attracting tree planting initiative with our “Green Pioneer community” as well as ca. 40 WeGrow fans.
