Session

Transforming Compensation - Implementing a Modern Rewards System beyond Collective Agreements

Case Study

Tuesday, November 25

09:20 am - 09:45 am

Live in Berlin

Less Details

Transitioning from traditional collective agreements to a modern, flexible rewards structure is a complex challenge—especially in organizations bound by long-standing agreements with works councils. This presentation explores how one company is navigating this transformation, moving away from IG Metall contracts to develop a new salary structure in consultation with employee representatives. The process involves redefining compensation models, implementing performance-based bonus structures, and integrating system support tools. However, before technology can drive efficiency, a strong content foundation must be established, including salary bands, bonus frameworks, and communication strategies with key stakeholders. This session will provide insights into the agile workflow guiding this transformation, the collaborative approach taken with works councils, and the key challenges of balancing employee expectations with business goals. Attendees will gain an understanding of how to structure compensation redesign efforts, manage negotiations, and ensure a smooth transition to a modern rewards system. In this session you will learn

  • How to successfully transition from collective agreements to a new, company-driven salary and rewards structure.
  • How to collaborate with works councils to create fair and transparent compensation frameworks.
  • How to build a content-first approach to salary structures before integrating system support tools.
