Session

Harmonizing Total Rewards - Integrating Compensation & Benefits in Mergers

Case Study

Monday, November 24

08:45 am - 09:10 am

Live in Berlin

Less Details

Merging two companies presents unique challenges in aligning compensation structures, benefits, and reward strategies. In this presentation, we will present how to reassess and harmonize Total Rewards during a corporate integration. A key focus will be on our internal approach to redefining positions, evaluating new employees, and ensuring fairness and consistency in rewards allocation. Our methodology includes a manager-driven assessment process, supported by an internal calculation tool that translates various input factors into tailored reward recommendations. Also other factors such as experience, role complexity, and communication skills are considered. While this approach enables flexibility, it also ensures a structured and data-driven decision-making process. One of the main challenges is the integration of different operational systems, which impacts compensation, benefits, and financial efficiency. We will share insights into how we aim to create a unified, global Total Rewards framework that balances cost savings with fair and competitive pay structures. We will provide an update on our progress, key learnings, and financial implications of this harmonization.

In this session, you will learn

  • How to establish a structured evaluation process for defining rewards during a corporate merger.
  • How to integrate different operational systems and benefit structures while ensuring fairness and efficiency.
  • How to balance cost savings with competitive compensation when merging Total Rewards strategies.
